The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was created after the Nigerian Civil War on the 22nd of May 1973 to promote national unity and promote better relationships among Nigerian youths from different tribes and religions. It is usually done after graduating from a tertiary institution. It is a compulsory program that must be done before you get a corporate or governmental job. In most cases, corps members are transferred to other states in Nigeria to serve the country for a year. In the new state, corps members are given a Place of Primary Assignment ( PPA ) which could be ministries, schools, organisations, and so on.

It is a report worthy of the highest award in the land for investigative journalism.

The hepatitis B vaccine is one of the most potent immunizations, usually providing decades of protection against the deadly liver virus. But in about 10% of people it doesn’t work, and in 2020, Amy Huei-Yi Lee, a systems biologist at Simon Fraser University, and her colleagues set out to determine whether they could predict who would benefit. The scientists found that data on recipients’ immune systems such as the abundance of certain proteins and the activity patterns of a few genes foretold whether they would generate defenses against the virus. “We got a sense of what factors drive the vaccine response and what [doesn’t],” Lee says.
The big story this week is that the Nigerian government has suspended the evaluation and accreditation of degree certificates from universities in neighbouring Benin and Togo. The announcement comes a few days after an undercover report by Daily Nigerian exposed certificate racketeering from a university in Benin. The suspension, according to the ministry, stands pending the outcome of an investigation involving the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education of Nigeria and the two countries as well as the State Security Service (SSS) and the NYSC.
