Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) says it recorded no less than 200 cases of meter bypass and 54 cases of transformer vandalism in six months. The JEDC Head, Corporate Communications, Dr Adakole Elijah, who disclosed this in an interview in Gombe on Monday, said 30 cases of transformer oil theft were also recorded during the period. The trial of 14 people over the deadly 2015 attack on France’s Charlie Hebdo magazine  was suspended for at least a week after three defendants tested positive for the new coronavirus. The news agency AFP reported early on Monday. Another oil leak, the third in six months, has discharged a yet-to-be-ascertained volume of crude oil polluting the Okpoama community and its environs in Brass local government area of Bayelsa. The leak reportedly occurred on Oct. 28 on the 50-year-old Ogoda-Brass crude pipeline belonging to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) near the oil firm’s crude export terminal. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 111 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total now infections now 62,964. The NCDC made this known via its verified Website on Sunday. The centre also reported two deaths, bringing the total to 1,146 recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. The agency said Lagos reported 49 new infections, 30 in the FCT, 11 in Rivers and 10 in Plateau. Others are Ogun-four, Kaduna and Oyo-three each Osun-one.
