A German Organisation, Taz Panter Foundation, with support from the German Foreign Office, has begun a workshop for African Journalists from 16 countries. The workshop which started on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 will run through February 2022. German vaccine manufacturer BioNTech is to request the authorisation of its COVID-19 vaccine for children from the age of 12 in the European Union, it announced on Thursday. The request would probably be filed in the next few days with the European Medicines Agency (EMA), a spokesperson told doa. The World Bank says Russia, Iraq, Iran, the United States, Algeria, Venezuela and Nigeria remain the top seven gas flaring countries for nine years running. The bank said this on Wednesday in Washington DC in its gas flaring satellite data for 2020, compiled by World Bank’s Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership (GGFR). It added that the satellite was first launched in 2012. African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has barred Maxicare Company (Nigeria) Ltd. from conducting business with it for the next three years. The bank said on its website on Wednesday that the debarment, for engaging in “collusive and fraudulent practices” during a business tender, took effect from Feb. 23. It stated that the infringement was committed under the Transport Facilitation Programme for the Bamenda-Mamfe-Abakaliki-Enugu Road Corridor connecting Cameroon and Nigeria.
