Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has ordered Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to write-off accumulated billings for all communities on Lalupon/Iwo Road electricity feeder in Ibadan, up till November 2020. NERC Chairman, Mr Olayiwola Oyelade, gave the order on Tuesday while deliberating on a case brought before the commission by the affected communities. Electricity Consumers’ Association on Lalupon/Iwo Road feeder had, on Nov. 27, 2020, sought help from NERC over it called outrageous billing. Sudanese Prime Minister, Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, announced on Monday that the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have written off their debts to Sudan, a step that will “open the door wide” for the return of Sudan to the international community. The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms Kristalina Georgieva has assured African leaders of $33 billion from the expected Special Drawing Rights (SDR) of 650 billion dollars. A technician and a yet-to-be-identified person have been confirmed dead as gas explosion rocked Conference Hotel in Abeokuta on Tuesday. The hotel, located at the Water Corporation headquarters junction, in Ogun capital, is owned by a former governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel. Three others were said to have sustained injuries in the explosion and are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
