Eric Adams, the Democratic Party candidate, endorsed by the Nigerian community in New York has been elected the Mayor of New York City. Adams, who was supported by Nigerians with over $33,000, will be the second black Mayor of the City, defeated the Republican candidate, Curtis Sliwa. Nigeria’s Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM has disposed that 5,000 Nigerians living abroad are expected to participate in the 2021 Nigerian Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS). The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu has reassured that the Kashimbila 40 Megawatt Power Station in Taraba will be ready in December. Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that Nigeria will cut its emissions to net zero by 2060. Garba Shehu, the President’s spokesman in a statement, said Buhari revealed this while delivering his national statement at COP26 Leaders’ Summit in Glasgow, Scotland, on Tuesday.
