The Lagos State Government has given working tools to 1,700 women through its Micro Enterprise Support Initiative, showing its strong commitment to empowering women and removing barriers that hold them back.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, spoke at the second phase of the 2025 programme organized by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The event took place at Blue Roof, Alausa, Ikeja.
According to the governor, the programme is part of the government’s efforts to create an environment where women can succeed, have their rights protected, and enjoy more opportunities for economic independence.
“One of my greatest passions as governor is to empower our women,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Over the years, I have seen that when you empower a woman, you empower her family, her community, and the whole society.”
The items shared included sewing machines, hairdressing kits, stoning machines, aluminum fabricating machines, as well as farm tools, fertilizer, and seeds.
Sanwo-Olu also promised that his administration would continue to strengthen laws, policies, and institutions that ensure women’s safety, dignity, and equal chances in society.
“Our administration will always stand firm in protecting the rights of women,” he added.
