The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Mrs. Margaret Oguntala has bagged the prestigious Africa Energy Lifetime Achievement Award of the Women in Energy Africa.
The Vice President in charge of Corporate Services at NSE, Mrs Felicia Agubata said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos on Saturday.
Agubata said Oguntala, who is an engineer, was recognised for her exemplary contributions to the energy sector, which further solidifies her status as a trailblazer and role model in the field of engineering.
She stated that the award was bestowed on the NSE president at the 2024 WomEnergy Africa Gala and Award held in Houston Texas in the United States of America.
According to her, the WomEnergy Africa Gala and Award serve as a platform to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of women across the globe and also promote networking.
In another development, Oguntala was also honoured for her outstanding contributions as one of the panel speakers at the just concluded Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN)event held during the 2024 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.

The NSE president’s recognition as a distinguished panel speaker underscores her significant contributions to the engineering profession and her commitment to advancing local content excellence in Africa’s oil and gas sector.
At the panel discussion, the NSE president highlighted the importance of capacity-building initiatives.
Oguntade emphasised NSE’s commitment to addressing the skill gap in the industry through various capacity-building programmes.
These initiatives, she said, aim to ensure a sufficient supply of competent professionals who can contribute to the growth and sustainability of the oil and gas sector.
NSE is an umbrella organization for Nigerian engineers, and founded on 16 February 1958 by young graduate engineers in the UK. and inaugurated in London.
