Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a determined student from Yobe State, Nigeria, has made history by emerging as the world’s best in English language skills at the prestigious 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held recently in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Yobe, Nafisa outperformed over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, including many from native English-speaking nations. This remarkable feat highlights not only her exceptional talent but also the strength of Nigeria’s educational system.
The TeenEagle competition is known for its rigorous evaluation of various aspects of English proficiency, including vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and oral communication. Nafisa’s victory is a testament to her hard work, sharp intellect, and excellent communication skills, as well as the enriching academic environment provided by her school.
According to a report by Peoples Daily, this outstanding achievement was formally announced in a heartfelt statement by Hassan Salifu, the head of the Aminu family. He attributed Nafisa’s success to “dedication, discipline, and the enabling support of the Yobe State government.”

“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary leadership and unwavering support for education from His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni. His commitment to improving educational standards in Yobe has brought international honour not only to our state but also to Nigeria as a whole,” the statement read.
“Her triumph has brought immense pride to her family, her school, her state, and the entire nation.”
The Aminu family also expressed profound gratitude to the management and staff of Nigerian Tulip International College for maintaining high academic standards and nurturing students like Nafisa to thrive on the global stage.
In addition, they urged both state and federal governments to recognise and celebrate Nafisa’s achievement formally. They emphasized that her victory demonstrates the vast potential of Nigerian students to compete and excel internationally when provided with a conducive learning environment and adequate support.
