The General Abdourahmane Tchiani-led military junta in Niger Republic, has announced the formation of a new government.
The Secretary General of the Government, Mahamane Roufai Laouali, read out 21 names on television without specifying any further plans.
According to the military leaders in a broadcast on Thursday, the new government is backed by a decree read out on the country’s national television.
It said the Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine will lead the 21-member government, with generals from the new military governing council, who will head the defence and interior ministries.
Three coup leaders have been named ministers of defence, interior and sports in the government, which is about half the size of the previous one.
