The former Nigerian military Head of State, and leader of the ECOWAS high-powered delegation to Niger Republic, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), has said that they met with the head of the military junta, Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani, and the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

The delegation was to the presidential palace for a meeting with the head of the military junta, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, which lasted for about 90 minutes.
They later met with the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Abdulsalami said, “We met him and heard his side of the story. He told us what was done to him and the challenges he is facing. We will communicate this to ECOWAS leaders. Doors for talks are now open for a lasting solution.”
