The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recovered over ₦446 billion and restrained an additional ₦142 billion under forfeiture orders, alongside ₦30 billion in cash recoveries within one month.
The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, disclosed this during the Monthly National Joint Security Briefing in Abuja.
According to him, the commission recorded remarkable achievements in September, describing the development as a demonstration of institutional strength in the fight against corruption.
“This is a sign of strength to further eliminate corruption in Nigeria. During the period under review, the ICPC received 19 petitions through both in-person and digital channels available to the public,” he said.

Issa-Onilu explained that out of 33 cases assigned for investigation, nine were successfully investigated, leading to three convictions. He added that relevant updates on these cases had been communicated to the appropriate authorities.
The NOA boss further noted that the ICPC conducted 77 sensitisation workshops and conferences, reaching 41,922 individuals, including State Attorneys-General.
He said the commission also carried out one Systems Study/Corruption Risk Assessment and inaugurated eight Anti-Corruption and Transparency Units (ACTUs) across some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to strengthen institutional accountability.
“The ICPC’s social media engagement increased to 1,650 hits. The Commission aired four episodes of its weekly television programme, ‘Transparency Files’, in English, and 27 outreach episodes in selected indigenous languages,” Issa-Onilu said.
He added that the commission also issued 12 press releases, which received 121 media mentions across various outlets.
Issa-Onilu said the achievements underscored the ICPC’s sustained commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and a corruption-free Nigeria.
