ASHENEWS reports that researchers from various Schools and Departments in the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna have attracted a total of ₦844,597,376 National Research Fund (NRF) grant.
The grant which is sponsored by the TETFund was attracted by the researchers in 2022 and 2023.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Faruk Kuta disclosed this during the press briefing for the 31st a d 32nd combined convocation ceremonies in Minna on Tuesday.
“The University has consistently maintained its position among the league of universities in Nigeria and beyond. In the recent year 2022 and 2023, researchers from various Schools and Departments in the University have demonstrated competency in research and innovation, which has attracted the sum of ₦844,597,376 as National Research Fund (NRF) grant sponsored by the TETFund”, he said.
The Vice Chancellor further disclosed that the University in consortium with 11 other international institutions won the sum of £5 million in the European Commission Grant to execute the project titled EU-AU Partnership for Resilient, Inclusive and Safe Food Systems for Everyone (UP-RISE).
“Another research group has won the sum of €800,000 from European Commission under Erasmus Plus Programme,” the Vice Chancellor said.
He further said that the University has 10 research products that have been patented adding that the university is ready to encourage the university researchers to do more by providing enabling environment and incentives them.
Kuta then stated that the university has organized 106 Inaugural Lectures since its inception.
