The Kwara Government is committed to youth development in order to make youths useful to themselves and society, the State Commissioner for Environment, Malam Shehu Ndanusa, has said.
Ndanusa said this on Friday during the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop organized for youths and women on climate-smart municipal solid waste management.
The workshop was organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Environment.
Ndanusa said the administration of Gov. Abdul Rahman AbdulRazaq was committed to youth development and ready to develop the youths to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
“This will make them achieve their full potential and be useful to themselves and society at large,” he said.
The Commissioner charged participants to utilize knowledge gained from both Timekus Global Resource Limited and Chyme Pacers Ventures Limited to establish their businesses and be self-employed for a better living.
“Waste management is a lucrative business that serious-minded youths can tap into and excel at in life.
“I assure you that the government will support you, even after the training, for you to be self-sufficient,” Ndanusa said.
Earlier, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment from Pollution Control and Environmental Health, Mr. Zakariya Kutsr, had commended the state government for its effort.
Kutsr disclosed that all the participants would be given start-up capital as an empowerment to start their business in waste management.
He also gave an assurance that the Federal Ministry of Environment would continue to partner with the state for youth development.
The 60 youths selected from different parts of the state were trained on climate-smart municipal solid waste management.
