ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago has approved the constitution of the Implementation Committee to ensure the smooth take-off of the newly licensed Niger State University of Education, Minna.

It would be recalled that the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently granted a license to Gov. Umaru Bago’s administration to establish a new, full-fledged State-owned University, named the Niger State University of Education, Minna.

This was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abubakar Usman.

He disclosed that the Committee will be chaired by Prof. Mohammed Kuta Yahaya of the University of Ibadan and former Secretary to the Government of Niger State while the Secretary to the State Government serves as the Co-Chairman of the Committee and Dr. Abdul Hussaini, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands is the Secretary.

“Members of the Committee include Prof. Rasheed Haruna, Provost, Federal College of Education, Kontagora, Prof. Yakubu Mohammed Auna, Provost, College of Education, Minna, Mohammed Datti Usman, former Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Barr. Abbas Bello, former Head of Service, Niger State, Prof. Busrah Zakariyau, Department of Entrepreneurship, Federal University of Technology, Minna, and Dr. Abubakar Bala Shehu, Deputy Provost, Academics, College of Education, Minna.  

“Other members of the Committee are Sule Ndako, Director, Research and Development, College of Education, Minna, Mrs. Azumi S.K. Ndayako, Registrar, Edusosko University, Bida, Hon. Commissioner, Tertiary Education, Hon. Commissioner, Budget and Planning, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Local Government Affairs, Hassana Adamu, former Commissioner for Gender Affairs, Dr. Dauda Mohammed Kontagora and Engr. Dr. Sadiq A. Mohammed, Federal University of Technology, Minna”

The statement equally announced Dr. Murtala M. Bagana who is also the Assistant Secretary, Dr. Mamman S. Abubakar, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Yabagi Alfa, former Registrar, College of Education, Minna and Engr. Abdullahi Ketso as a member of the Secretariat.
