ASHENEWS reports that the Northern Emancipation Network has raised the alarm that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the coming Kogi State governorship elections is planning to deploy his support from certain powerful interests entrenched in the presidency.
The NEN, in a statement by its Chairman, Suleiman Abbah said the upcoming governorship elections in Kogi State have been marred by allegations of undue influence and interference from powerful interests entrenched in the presidency.
“Intelligence sources have revealed to us that that the powerful interests have pledged to unduly apply their influence to give advantage to the SDP candidate during the election.
“The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate is to be the beneficiary of this support, Abbah said and emphasized the potential consequences and the need for vigilance.”
According to the Arewa Network, certain powerful interests have pledged their support to the SDP candidate, intending to unduly influence the election in his favor.
“This revelation raises concerns about the fairness and integrity of the electoral process. The NEN as a concerned stakeholder, hereby sounds the alarm and urge all parties involved to take notice of this development.
”In the event of any breach of protocol during the election, the Group emphasized the importance of identifying those responsible. It warns that any attempt to intimidate supporters of any party or candidate will be vehemently resisted. The network asserts that those found guilty of such actions must be held accountable for their actions.
“We call for action by President Tinubu to investigate the extent of complicity of officials in his government involved in this scheme.
“We implore the president to call these individuals to order. By doing so, President Tinubu can demonstrate his commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring a level playing field for all candidates.
“We sternly warn the collaborators involved in this dubious political agenda to desist from their actions, as failure to do so will result in their exposure.
“The unfolding scenario in Kogi State, with allegations of powerful interests influencing the upcoming governorship elections, demands immediate attention. The Northern Emancipation Network’s call for vigilance and accountability is a necessary step towards ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process. President Tinubu’s intervention is crucial in addressing these concerns and upholding democratic values. It is imperative that all stakeholders work together to prevent any breach of protocol and protect the democratic rights of the people of Kogi state.
”We also wish to draw attention to where blame will ultimately lie in the event of any breach of protocol during the election.
”We warn that any attempt to intimidate supporters of any party or candidate will be vehemently resisted and those responsible will definitely be called to account,” it said.
