Adamawa state government, has dragged teachers of secondary schools to rent tribunal for alleged illegal occupation of residential houses in the state.
In a motion ex-parte, sighted by AshNews, the state government sought an order to serve the occupants seven days notice for retired teachers to vacate the quarters.
According to a teacher, who is still with the service of the state government, lamented the notice which affects many serving teachers in the state.
Another teacher who works with Government Girls School, Yola pleaded anonymity for fear of victimization, presented compressive list of all affected staff under the ministry of education and human development.
He said Fintiri’s administration had failed to fulfil the promise made to the people of Adamawa, to revive the education system at all levels.
According to him, the governor rode on the wings of a civil servant to became the governor of the state, but turned out to favour himself and his political allies.
He lamented that the government ought to have solved the current issue where pupils Junior Secondary schools pupils are yet for the Graduating Exams (JSCE) ,and no instructional materials in almost all the schools but prefer to divert their attention to what will not give the state a good name.
“As schools reopened for over three months, a serious government would have a focus on the well being of the Teachers and the students, but what we are seeing is the opposite, yet they want people to believe the Governor is working. AshNews gathered that facts emerged from an authentic list of all the civil servants given the quit notice letter revealed that Teachers still serving and those on transfer are the most affected than those retired.
Recall the government through its commissioner of Education and human development, Mrs Wilbernar Jackson said the Teachers are illegal occupants as they have since been retired.
Mrs Jackson who responded via a telephone chat, however, said the government have set up a committee for that purpose and does not want to preempt their decision.
According to her whatever it is a report of the committee will be presented to her and until then she Will like to address the issue properly.
