ASHENEWS reports that the Northern Youth Consultative Forum has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic youth to fill the position of Minister for Youth in Nigeria.

A statement by the spokesperson, Moses Gyang, the group highlighted the need for a youthful and visionary leader who can connect with the Nigerian youth and understand their needs and aspirations.

According to the forum, its membership of over 100,000 across the northern Nigeria, believes that appointing a young person can bring fresh ideas and energy into the ministry and result in a more effective approach towards resolving the challenges that Nigerian youth face today.

The statement also emphasized that Nigeria has a large population of youths who are facing numerous challenges, including unemployment, poverty, and lack of access to education and healthcare.

“Today we converge here in the city of Jos, to equally appeal to Mr. President, vice president, progressive governors’ forum, national chairman of APC and critical shareholders to support the nomination of Dr. Nicholas Felix as Minister of youth development federal republic of Nigeria,” Gyan Said.

The forum also expressed its readiness to work with the minister to achieve the vision of the Nigerian youth and ensure that their concerns are adequately addressed.

It urged the President to act fast in appointing a new Minister for Youth so that the ministry can hit the ground running.

The Northern Youth Consultative Forum’s appeal has come at a time when Nigeria is experiencing a surge in youth-led activism, with young people taking to the streets to demand better governance and accountability.

It remains to be seen who the President will appoint to lead the Youth Ministry, but there is growing consensus that a youthful and visionary leader would be the best fit for the role.
