ASHENEWS reports that the Managing Director of Zamson Oil and Gas, Zayyanu Musa Bashar has donated 100 bags of rice to Sokoto orphanage.
This online platform recalls that the state governor, Ahmed Aliyu had, when he visited the orphanage recently pleaded with wealthy citizens to assist the children in the orphanage.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the state governor, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Aminu Haliru Dikko, commended the donor for the kind gesture.
He called on other well meaning citizens to donate generously to the orphanage.
“These children are ours, so we need to collectively take care of them,” he appealed.
The Chief of Staff further charged the management of the orphanage to ensure the proper utilization of the food item.
Dikko also restated government’s determination to continue to ensure the welfare of the orphans.
Earlier, the representative of the Managing Director, Khairu Abdullahi said the gesture was part of their effort to assist the needy in the state.
He added that Zamson Oil and Gas firm has for long been rendering humanitarian support to the vulnerable and the needy in the state.
In her short remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Social Welfare, Amina Muhammed Jekada, thanked the donor for the assistance, and assured effective utilization of the food item.
