The Managing Director of the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority (UNRBDA), Professor Mohammed Aliyu has stressed the importance of security as the top priority of any government or organization.
He stated this after he received an award for committing the Authority to improve security and WASH by the Bosso/Maikunkele divisions of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Minna.
According to him, the importance of security cannot be overemphasized neither can any assistance rendered to the security agencies be considered a waste.
“We understand the importance of security because no development is possible if there is no security. Security should be the number one priority of any government or organization.”
Appreciating the award given to him, Aliyu said that the organization will continue to assist all security agencies across its catchment areas to ensure the effective discharge of their responsibilities.
The MD then expressed the determination of the organization to ensure the provision of portable drinking water and water for irrigation purposes for the people.
The Chairman of PCRC Bosso/Maikunkele divisions explained that the Managing Director had initiated projects on security, water, health, and sanitation in the community adding that the award was to appreciate his efforts and urgency him in doing more.
The state chairman of the PCRC, Alhassan Wasagi called on other well-meaning individuals and organizations to emulate the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority and ensure that their corporate social responsibility touches the lives of people.
He further said that interested individuals are welcome to join the Committee which aims at bridging the gap between the police and the community and to reduce the spate of insecurity and youth restiveness in the state.
