ASHENEWS reports that the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has called for increased funding for state-owned universities by the federal government.
The governor stated this when he paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund in Abuja.
Yusuf said that the visit was aimed at galvanizing support for additional funding to Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, and the Northwest University, Kano.
“In terms of education, Kano State is like Oliver Twist, the more you help us, the more we crave more support, that’s why I am here personally.
“Our investment in higher education could only be effective with the complementary efforts of the TETFUND, we are determined to increase the capacity of our universities in the areas of infrastructure, research, training, and retraining,” he said.
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono in his remark lauded the governor for the visit.
