ERA kicks as Nnimmo Bassey convenes board meeting

The legal officer of Environmental Rights Action, ERA, Mr Nosa Tokunbor has asked the former chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), Mr Nnimmo Bassey, not to convene any board staff meeting.

Tokunbor, in a statement issued in Benin on Friday made available to ASHENEWSONLINE, said Bassey lacked the power to convene and address a meeting of the ERA Board Staff Meeting.

According to him, the purported ERA/FoEN Board staff meeting being organized for staff of the organization by Bassey, is illegal, and of no effect whatsoever because, he added, he was removed

He recalled that Mr Nnimmo Bassey was on Wednesday 7 October 2020 removed as trustee and as chairman, Board of Trustees of the organization by the General Assembly meeting resolution of ERA/FoEN on Wednesday.

“Mr Nnimmo Bassey has been duly and lawfully removed as the chairman of the Board of Trustees and therefore lacks the power, authority or capability to convene any Board Staff Meeting.

“Mr Nnimmo Bassey was removed because of the lingering irreconcilable conflict of interest and therefore cannot perform such function,” said Mr Tokunbor.

Tokunbor therefore called on all staff of ERA/FoEN not to attend the meeting summoned by Bassey.
