Gunmen on Saturday morning, kidnapped 19 ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while going to conduct the State House of Assembly elections in the Ideato Local Government Area of Imo state.
However, the state police command have confirmed the rescue of the INEC staff but adds that the electoral materials had been carted away.
“The 19 kidnapped NEC ad-hoc staff have been rescued by security operatives following a distress message but the electoral materials seized from them, including BVAS machines, are still missing,” the report said.
