ASHENEWS reports that Bayero University, Kano has awarded 285 students with first-class degrees in its 36th and 37th combined convocation ceremony.
According to the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Sagir Abbas, 5,648 students graduated between the 2018/2019 academic session and the 2019/2020 academic session.
This is in addition to 8,777 post-graduate students who graduated from the university’s school of Postgraduate Studies and the Dangote Business School.
Abbas noted that another 359 postgraduate students would receive PhDs; 5,936 would receive Master’s Degrees, while Postgraduate Diplomas would be conferred on 2,484 candidates.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the graduating students to remain, good ambassadors of the institution, as they embark on their future endeavors.
“I entreat you to be worthy ambassadors of BUK and endeavor to give your best in the development of your community and the nation.
“Do remember BUK wherever you may be for providing you with the necessary knowledge and skills to build a career thereby contributing to societal development,”he said.
He stated that the institution has distinguished itself among its peers in the country and even beyond, stating that the university was recently ranked the 11th best university in Nigeria by Webometrics.
