ASHENEWS reports that the Catholic Church’s Pope Francis has called for special prayers for the cleric, Father Isaac Achi who was killed by bandits in Kaffin-Korro, in Paiko local government area of Niger state.
Pope Francis made the call during the general audience he held on Wednesday.
“At the General Audience on Wednesday, Pope Francis asked everyone to remember in their prayers the many Christians who suffer violence directly.
“He spoke in particular about Father Isaac Achi of the Diocese of Minna in northern Nigeria, who was murdered last Sunday in his parish residence,” Vatican News reported.
Recall that Rev. Father Isaac Achi, a Catholic priest of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, Paiko was burnt alive by bandits in his house on Sunday morning.
The unfortunate incident led to widespread condemnation across Nigeria and even beyond.
On Monday, a protest over his murder had turned violent, leading to the burning down of the divisional police headquarters in the area by rioting youths.
