Flood victims in the 23 local government area of Sokoto state, have appealed to wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari to come to their aid.
A statement by a concerned citizen, Zayyanu Goronyo issued to news men on Friday, requested Mrs Buhari to, through her pet project, the Future Assured Programme, assist them in all ways possible to remedy the problem they have found themselves.
He noted that, it is a flagship programme that has been in the forefront of rendering assistance to the needy, physically challenged and other vulnerable persons across the country.
“It is also happily noteworthy that, the Future Assured Programme has been empowering millions of needy Nigerians, especially women and children.
“The gestures being extended to the less privileged Nigerians have greatly been alleviating their suffering.
“The programme has been moving them out of poverty, unemployment and other pauperizing socioeconomic situations.
“It is therefore imperative to humbly solicit for the extension of similar invaluable gestures of the programme to the myriad of flood victims in the state,” the statement reads.
According to the concerned citizen, most of the local governments, especially Goronyo, were hit by the flood disasters, with resultant colossal losses of houses, farmlands and other household properties, among others.
“These victims certainly need the urgent assistance of the all-important, people-oriented Future Assured Programme.
“Other well meaning Nigerian citizens , local and international organizations should also urgently come to the aid of these flood victims, whose means of livelihood had been devastated by the disasters.”
Aliyu further expressed delight that, Nigerians were happy with the good work Mrs Buhari has been doing to further uplift the living standard of the down trodden in the country.
“While expecting her kind and urgent response, I am beseeching the Almighty Allah to be continue to abundantly bless all your endeavors and give you the strength, as well as patience to trudge,” Aliyu, concluded.
