President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, arrived Okene in Kogi to inaugurate projects constructed by the state government.
ASHENEWS reports that Buhari, who arrived Okene at 10.30 am and was driven to the new Palace of Ohinoyi of Ebraland for a townhall meeting.
After the meeting, Buhari inaugurated the multi million Naira Reference Hospital Okene, the new Palace of Ohinoyi of Ebraland Okene, Okene-Agasa-Ogbogoro road, and other township roads in Okene.
In Lokoja, the state capital, the president inaugurated the first-ever flyover bridge at Ganaja Junction Lokoja; the Muhammadu Buhari Square; the GYB Model Science Secondary School, Adankolo Lokoja, ambulances and special security vehicles.
He commended Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello for delivering campaign promises and called on the people of the state to cooperate and support the governor to deliver more dividends of democracy to the state.
Speaking on resuscitating the Ajaokuta Steel Company, the president noted that the federal government had committed $400 millions to enable the company work again, adding that progress is being made on the ongoing Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna (AAK) gas pipeline embarked upon by his administration .
The Ajaokuta-Abuja-Kaduna Gas Pipeline, is an ambitious energy project by the Nigerian government, which extends to the Europe linking the sub-Saharan Africa to Europe, with a potential to expand to the Spain upon full completion.
Governor Yahaya Bello expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to President Buhari for the visit.
Earlier, at the town hall meeting, Governor Bello stated that Thursday commissioning was very historic to the people of Kogi state and Ebiraland in particular.
According to him, since he took over office on 27th January, 2016, his administration had made a determination to serve the people with commitment and selfless service to the state.
“We are determined to fulfil all the electioneering promises to the people of the state. That is why I followed President Muhammadu Buhari’s footsteps. All the support you gave me has worked the magic in Kogi state with the litany of projects across the state,” Governor Bello stressed.
The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr. Ado Ibrahim who was represented by the Ohi Okengwe, Tijani Mohammed Anage thanked President Buhari for the support and encouragement he has given the state governor, noting that if not for the support, the historic events would not have taken place in Ebiraland.
