The Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre, Jos, has donated wheelchairs to 40 Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) in Daura, Katsina State.
Miss Sandra Yilgwan, the Media and Communications Officer of the centre, said this in a statement on Thursday in Jos.
Mr Ayuba Gufwan, the Executive Director and Founder of the centre, presented the wheelchairs to the beneficiaries.
He said that the gesture was done in collaboration with Mr Douglas Jurdimma, a Corps Member serving at Federal Government College, Daura.
Gufwan explained that the gesture was aimed at providing succour to the PWDs, adding that it would ease their movements and enable them to earn a good living.
He advised the beneficiaries to put the wheelchairs into good use, particularly meaningful ventures that might become useful to themselves and the society in general.
He commended the corps member for collaborating with the centre to reach out to the needy in the society.
In a speech, Jurdimma thanked the centre for providing the wheelchairs free to the beneficiaries, adding that it had also incurred all the expenses in moving the items from Jos to Daura.
The Emir of Daura, Dr Umar Faruk thanked Jurdimma and Gufwan for making his people beneficiaries of such great gesture.
He called on his people to be law-abiding and to emulate the love displayed by the donors adding such show of love and affection was really desired to make our society better.
He advised corps member serving in Daura and other parts of the country to emulate Jurdimma.
He added that the aim of establishing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) was to unite Nigerians irrespective of ethnic or religious background.
