… As Emir reacts, confirms new Balogun Agba
The Supreme Court of Nigeria has dismissed an appeal filed against Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari by the former Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Abdulkareem Laaro Balogun.
Balogun was challenging his removal as Balogun Gambari of Ilorin by the Emir.
The verdict of the apex court delivered on Friday, has finally put the 17 year-old legal tussle to rest.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has expressed delight over the apex court’s dismissal of the appeal filed by the former Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Abdulkareem Laaro.
The reaction is contained in a statement by his Spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona made available to ASHENEWS on Friday.
“The judgement is well deserving and gladden the heart of the people of Ilorin Emirate.
The statement also called on the people of Ilorin, especially Village Heads, District Heads, Baloguns, Magajis as well as traditional title holders, to continue to uphold and promote the culture and tradition of the ancient city of Ilorin.
“With the supreme judgement, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, hereby approve the upgrade of the current Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alhaji Aliu Adebayo, as the substantive most senior Kingmaker (Balogun Agba) of Ilorin Emirate.
“The Emir however urge members of the Ilorin Emirate Council to support the new Balogun Agba in the discharge of his duties in coordinating the affairs of the council.”
