Facilitated by the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, the Northeast Development Commission, NEDC, on Thursday, donated a 500KVA generator to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
The generator is capable of electrifying the newly established bone center and the entire medical units of the hospital.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Ahmadu Ahidjo received the generator and 10,000 Litres of diesel from the minister, Sadiya Farouk, represented by Group Captain Sadiq Shehu.
Prof. Ahidjo said that the hospital has been facing challenges of diesel supply for its 100Kva generating set, which has caused issues in some units of the hospital, including the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, maternity wards, oxygen plant, and operation room.
Ahidjo thanked NEDC Northeast for supporting the hospital, noting that “this is not the first time the commission came to the rescue of the hospital.
He charged the representative of the minister to extend their immense appreciation to the minister for the support, adding that the generator set will last long in the service of humanity.
