The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has commenced a probe into how N11 billion contracts were awarded by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).
The commission is also probing how the Fund spent N1.6 billion grant provided by the federal government for its take-off.
The invitation letter dated September 6, 2021 and signed by Director of Operations, Akeem Lawal of the commission was addressed to the Executive Secretary of the Fund.
According to the letter, “This commission is investigating alleged violations of the provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act No. 5 2020.
The commission therefore invited a former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba to appear before it on September 16.
Other invitees include Director, Legal Services, Mrs Victoria Ojogbane; Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Yahaya Mohammed; Director, Finance and Account, Mr Lawal Gunjunju; Special Assistant, Technical, Mr Salihu Abubakar; Director, Human Resources and General Services, Dr Femi Akinfala; a Board member, Mr Ben Akabueze; another Board member, Engr. Mansur Hammed.
The invitees are scheduled to report between September 13th and 15th before the ex-IGP takes his turn on September 16.
The letter also asked the staff of the Fund to present to the Commission some documents.
