The Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Bauchi station has announced the boycott of all activities of the state Police command over a case of physical assault on one of its staff.
The general manager, Sulaiman Ahmed who briefed newsmen on Tuesday, said the incidence occurred on Sunday, June 5th 2021 at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
“The young reporter arrived the stadium to cover the match between Wikki Tourist Football Club of Bauchi and visiting Akwa United in the ongoing Nigeria professional football league, with his camera, microphone and a jotter.
“On arrival at the stadium, the reporter respectfully demanded for access to the main bowl but instead, a police man by name Dauda removed his belt and started beating him,” Ahmed said.
The GM noted that the unwarranted physical assault is unacceptable and that the NTA would not condoned it.
As an interim measure, the Nigeria Television Authority NTA Bauchi has seized to cover all activities that involve the police in the state.
He acknowledged the role played by the NUJ in the saga.
