The Nigerian Army says it is committed to crush criminal elements in the country, including the Boko Haram terrorists and members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.
The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Faruk Yahaya stated this during the passing out parade of the 80 regular recruits intake at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria in Kaduna state on Saturday.
Represented by the General Officer Commanding One Mechanized Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Danjuma Ali-Keffi, Faruk assured that the military will ensure the country is safe for all citizens to live in.
According to the COAS, the contemporary security challenges created by bandits and terrorists, required the Armed Forces to remain well-trained and disciplined force.
He said that the graduands must remain loyal, disciplined and selfless in service to their fatherland.
The ceremony which was earlier scheduled to hold on May 22, was moved following the death of former (COAS) Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, alongside 10 other senior military personnel in a plane crash in Kaduna state on May 20.
