The Sokoto Police Command, have confirmed that mob on Tuesday attacked the Kware Divisional Police station, located in Kware local government area of Sokoto State.
The spokesperson of the Command, ASP Abubakar Sanusi confirmed that one person died and the station and two vehicles were set on fire.
According to him, a mob was at the station demanding the release of two kidnap suspects, who were arrested and being investigated for their alleged involvement in kidnapping in the area.
He explained that the mob, mostly youths, were shouting and insisting that the two suspects be released.
Sanusi further said that the mob overpowered the operatives that were guarding the station and burnt it down along with the DPO’s car and two police vans.
He added that they succeeded in killing one of the suspects and wounded the other.
Sanusi, however, said no arrest had been made but investigation was ongoing.
