The Lagos State Government has received new pumping equipment for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Iju and Adiyan Waterworks.
It was reported that the development was contained in a statement on the X handle of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab.
The delivery marks another milestone in Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s investment in critical water infrastructure across the state.
The rehabilitation is expected to strengthen water supply infrastructure and improve access to potable water for millions of Lagos residents.
The project is part of the administration’s efforts to provide clean, safe and reliable water through sustained investment in public water facilities.
The government said the delivery of the equipment underscored its commitment to modernising ageing water infrastructure and improving service delivery.
The rehabilitation includes the replacement and upgrading of pumping systems to improve operational efficiency at the two waterworks.
The state government expects the project to enhance water production capacity and ensure more reliable water distribution to households and businesses.
The rehabilitation of the Iju and Adiyan Waterworks is funded by the Lagos State Government and is scheduled for completion within the project’s implementation period.
