The Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in collaboration with the European Union (EU) and UNICEF, commemorated the 2026 International Day of Play with a vibrant event at Yahaya Abdulkarim Model Primary School, Sokoto.
The event brought together education stakeholders, development partners, government officials, teachers, and pupils to celebrate the importance of play in children’s learning, development, and well-being.
Speaking at the occasion, education experts and officials emphasized that play is a fundamental right for every child and a key tool for learning, creativity, social interaction, and healthy growth.
They called on governments, schools, parents, and communities to create safe, inclusive environments where children can learn and thrive through play.
