Al-Habibiyah Islamic Society has urged children to obey their parents and constituted authority, noting that the Sallah celebration is a result of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Almighty Allah.
The wife of the Society’s founder, Haulat A-Fuad, gave the advice in Abuja on Saturday at the Sallah Funfair organised by the Women’s Forum of the Al-Habibiyah Islamic Society.
“My message to the children is obedience,” A-Fuad said. “This celebration came as a result of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Almighty Allah and Prophet Ismail’s obedience to his father.
“Obedience is the connecting word. Children should obey their parents, and we as mothers should obey our husbands. When we obey the laws of the land, things become easier, as the Quran emphatically enjoins us to obey constituted authority.”
The Chairperson of the occasion, Hajia Amina Abdulmalik, described the Sallah funfair as a celebration of obedience.
“For the children, celebrating Eid-el-Kabir is also celebrating obedience because Prophet Ismail was obedient to his father,” she said. “It is a good example for them to emulate. When you obey your parents, Allah will bless you.”
Hajia Habiba Ahmed, Director of Endowment and Empowerment at Al-Habibiyah Islamic Society, said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises sacrifice, patience, perseverance, and obedience. She noted that Prophet Ibrahim fulfilled his promise to Allah and remained patient despite difficult circumstances.
“Speaking on behalf of the children, Miss Zainab Ibrahim described the funfair as interactive. “I have made new friends. It is very interactive,” she said.
