The National President of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA), Mohammed Buari, has disclosed that the association has disbursed over N14.6 million in scholarships to 140 students.

Buari made the disclosure at the 2026 UNIFEMGA Reunion Conference held on Saturday at Oduduwa Hall, OAU, Ile-Ife.

He said the reunion was organised to promote intellectual discourse, networking, and national development.

According to him, UNIFEMGA remains committed to supporting educational advancement, unity, and moral values, particularly by assisting brilliant but indigent students.

The Guest Speaker, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), delivered a lecture titled “The Potential Within: Nigeria’s Positive Mindset and Communication for Success.”

Issa-Onilu said Nigerians possess enormous human and material resources capable of transforming the nation into a global force if citizens adopt a positive attitude and collective responsibility.

He emphasised that Nigeria’s progress depends largely on the mindset of its people and their willingness to contribute to national growth. He noted that the country is blessed with talented, intelligent, and resilient citizens, but needs a positive orientation that promotes unity, patriotism, discipline, and hard work.

The Director-General lamented that negative narratives and disunity continue to hinder the nation’s development. He urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to remain hopeful, focus on solutions, and work together to promote peace and productivity.

The Chairman of the occasion, Mr Abdulkabir Aliu, CEO of Matrix Energy Group, reiterated that a positive mindset is the foundation for building a great nation.

In his remarks, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Religious Affairs, Bello Adeniyi, commended UNIFEMGA for the impactful event.

The OAU Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Adejare Bello, also appreciated the association for its continued support to its alma mater and the wider society.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Bamire, expressed gratitude to UNIFEMGA for consistently organising forums on national issues and commended the association for its contributions to the university and the country.
