A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Yobe State ahead of the 2027 general elections, Kashim Musa Tumsah, has donated relief materials and cash to victims of the accidental airstrike that reportedly killed scores of residents in Jilli village, Borko District of Gaidam Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on Saturday in Jilli village, with several residents reportedly injured and others killed in the strike.

According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the KMT Campaign Organisation, Abubakar Ahmed, the donations included bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, gallons of cooking oil and cash support meant to assist injured victims with medical bills.

Presenting the items at the Specialist Hospital in Gaidam, representatives of the politician, led by the Yobe First Movement Zone A Coordinator, Lewami Alhaji Bakura, said Tumsah was deeply saddened by the incident.

Bakura said the governorship aspirant directed the immediate delivery of the relief materials to support affected families and sympathise with the community over the tragedy.

“This is why he said we should immediately bring these items including rice, cooking oil, cartons of spaghetti and cash to the victims on his behalf and to condole the families of the deceased persons, praying Allah to grant them Jannatul Firdaus,” he said.

He added that the cash donations were to be handed directly to injured victims receiving treatment at the hospital.

Receiving the items, the District Head of Borko, Mainama Zannah, and the Councillor of Futchimiram Ward, Lawan Zannah, appreciated the intervention and described it as timely support for the affected families.

They commended Tumsah for what they described as his continued support to communities in the state during difficult moments.

Other members of the delegation included Engr. Bako Mustapha, Gaidam LGA Coordinator of YFM, and Hajiya Rabi, Haskey Forum Woman Leader.
