Kaduna boosts infrastructure after subsidy removal

The Kaduna State Government says it is boosting infrastructure across various sectors through increased allocations following the removal of the fuel subsidy.

The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, stated this on Thursday in Kaduna.

He spoke while addressing visiting journalists at the 35-km asphalt road linking Gadar Gayan through Gwaraji to Kujama Junction.

It was reported that the road is the longest single road project in the history of Kaduna State.

The project also includes a 130-metre bridge over the River Kaduna and spans Igabi, Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas.

The road is part of a broader infrastructure programme comprising 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres across the state.

According to Maiyaki, the road directly serves no fewer than 76 farming and rural communities.

He said the project has improved mobility, agriculture and rural economic activities across the benefiting local government areas.

The commissioner added that the initiative reflects the Uba Sani administration’s commitment to inclusive and people-centred development.

It was further reported that the road was conceived as an alternative route to ease traffic congestion within the Kaduna metropolis.

Maiyaki also said the state government has expanded investments in the health sector, including the upgrade of primary health centres across the state.
