A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party ()PDP in Oyo State, Olufemi Onireti, has resigned his membership of the party, citing the need for personal reflection.
Onireti, a former House of Representatives candidate, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Osupa Ward 9 in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area on Thursday.
Describing the move as difficult but necessary, he said the decision followed a period of what he termed “deep personal reflection.”
“I hereby formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” he stated.
He acknowledged his years of active participation in the party, including his candidacy in the last general election, noting that the PDP provided him a platform for political engagement, service, and personal growth.
Despite his departure, Onireti expressed gratitude to party leaders and members for the support he received during his time in the party.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve, and for the relationships and experiences I gained during my time in the party. I wish the party well in its future endeavours,” he added.
His resignation is expected to stir political discussions within Ogbomoso North, as observers await his next political move.
