The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kano Command, has launched proactive sensitisation campaigns targeting drivers and transport unions to promote road safety ahead of the Sallah festivities.
The exercise complies with a directive from FRSC Headquarters for a nationwide public enlightenment campaign to ensure safer roads during the festive period.
Kano Sector Commander, Idris Mohammed-Lawal, said the campaign aims to create awareness on road safety, promote responsible driving behaviour, and ensure a crash-free Sallah celebration in Kano State.
“The campaign aligns with the Corps’ 2026 strategic goal of Renewed Commitment, Professionalism and Improved Service Delivery, introduced by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed,” he said.
“As part of the sensitisation exercise, we visited the Kano Line Motor Park along Kano–Zaria Road to address members of transport unions, drivers and passengers,” Mohammed-Lawal added.
He urged drivers to avoid overloading, shun speeding and reckless driving, and comply with traffic rules and regulations to prevent road crashes during the festive period.
Earlier, Auwal Kano-line, an official of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), who spoke on behalf of transport unions, drivers and passengers, commended the Corps for the sensitisation effort.
He pledged that members of the union would adhere to traffic regulations to ensure a crash-free Sallah celebration.
The campaign reflects FRSC’s renewed focus on proactive engagement with road users during high-traffic festive seasons to reduce accidents, save lives, and enhance overall road safety compliance in Kano State.
