Former Zamfara governor and Minister of State for Defense, Bello Muhammad has welcomed the defection of the state governor, Dauda Lawal to the (APC), describing the move as a historic moment for the state and the country.
Reacting to the development, Mohammed said the governor’s entry into the ruling party represents a significant political reunion and an opportunity for greater collaboration in addressing the challenges facing the state.
He noted that Zamfara requires the collective commitment of all stakeholders to confront its pressing issues, particularly insecurity, while advancing the development agenda of the administration of .
According to him, Governor Lawal’s decision to join the APC brings him into what he described as a progressive political family capable of mobilizing support to ensure a safer and more prosperous Zamfara.
Mohammed emphasized that the political philosophy of President Tinubu demonstrates that politics should be about building bridges rather than deepening divisions.
“For me, this is a political reunion with my friend and brother,” he said, adding that both leaders share the belief that Nigeria can work for all its citizens when leaders cooperate across political differences.
He called on members of the APC to close ranks and unite with renewed determination, stressing the need to consolidate the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mohammed also pledged his support to Governor Lawal in pursuing policies and programmes aimed at improving security, stability and economic development in Zamfara State.
He concluded by praying for peace and progress in Zamfara and Nigeria as a whole.
