As many as 200 children have been killed across the Middle East since the outbreak of US and Israeli operations against Iran, UNICEF has reported. According to UNICEF, 181 of the 200 children were killed in Iran, while seven were killed in Lebanon, three in Israel, and one in Kuwait since the beginning of the war.
The death toll from the Israel-US joint strikes on Iran stands at 1,230 people, according to various estimates. “Children do not start wars, but they pay an unacceptably high price.
The military escalation across the Middle East has already had a devastating impact on children,” UNICEF said.
The agency said that 175 children from elementary schools were killed on the first day of the conflict after schools were targeted by US and Israeli forces, according to the IRGC.
A military academy belonging to Iran’s army was reportedly one of the sites targeted earlier today in central Tehran.
Massive explosions hit several locations in Tehran overnight, including residential apartments and the vicinity of Tehran University. Additionally, Israeli jets carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, including in Douris in the Bekaa Valley and the suburbs of the capital, Beirut.
US President Donald Trump said Iran is being demolished “ahead of schedule and at levels people have never seen before”, claiming the country now has “no air force, no air defence” and that the air force is “gone”.
Furthermore, Iran has continued its attacks on Gulf countries, including the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, while Israel’s Tel Aviv was struck by drones and missiles on Thursday night.
