Dangote Industries Limited has unveiled an export-driven growth strategy at the Gateway International Trade Fair in Abeokuta, outlining plans to expand industrial capacity, strengthen value chains and position Nigeria as a competitive hub for agricultural and industrial exports under its Vision 2030 agenda.

The plan drew commendation from the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), which praised the conglomerate’s long-term investments and Vision 2030 industrial agenda.

Details of the strategy were highlighted by the Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations, Fatima Aliko-Dangote, during Dangote Special Day at the 15th Gateway International Trade Fair in Abeokuta, where business leaders and policymakers gathered to discuss export competitiveness, industrial expansion and public–private collaboration.

Represented by Dangote Cement Plc’s Regional Sales Director (Lagos/Ogun), Tunde Mabogunje, she said the Group’s investments across cement, energy, petrochemicals, fertiliser and food production were structured to shift Nigeria from an import-dependent economy to a net exporter of strategic products.

She explained that Vision 2030 seeks to expand industrial capacity, stimulate cross-border investment, deepen regional value chains and enhance Nigeria’s competitiveness across Africa and beyond.

“Our participation at the Gateway Trade Fair dovetails with Dangote Vision 2030 — an enterprise-wide plan to accelerate industrial expansion, spur cross-border investments and reduce import dependence in strategic sectors,” she said. “As a lead sponsor, Dangote Industries Limited is proud to stand with OGUNCCIMA to deepen commerce, strengthen value chains and open markets for manufacturers, MSEs and consumers across the region.”

Aliko-Dangote noted that Ogun State remains central to the Group’s industrial footprint, pointing to Dangote Cement’s 12-million-metric-tonnes-per-annum plant in Ibese, which supports domestic supply and exports. She added that construction of a six-million-metric-tonnes-per-annum integrated cement plant in Itori is underway to strengthen supply-chain linkages and boost West African export capacity.

She also referenced the Group’s $2.5 billion fertiliser partnership in Ethiopia, expected to produce up to three million metric tonnes of urea annually, describing it as part of a broader continental strategy to enhance food security and position Africa as a stronger agricultural exporter.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments, Engr. Kehinde Akintomide, urged local industries and entrepreneurs to emulate Dangote’s growth trajectory through bold thinking, patient investment and disciplined execution.

He commended OGUNCCIMA for sustaining the trade fair platform, noting its role in connecting businesses to markets and stimulating economic activity, and encouraged the chamber to expand initiatives that attract broader participation.

Earlier, OGUNCCIMA President, Lion Niyi Oshiyemi, described Dangote Day as a celebration of enterprise, resilience and transformational impact on Nigeria’s economy.

He said the Group’s investments have strengthened manufacturing capacity, generated employment and enhanced Nigeria’s global economic profile.

“Today, we celebrate not only a brand but a legacy of enterprise, resilience and transformational impact on Nigeria’s economy and beyond,” he said, adding that the company’s Vision 2030 reflects visionary leadership and commitment to national development.

Oshiyemi noted that the Gateway Trade Fair — now in its 15th edition — remains a critical platform for commerce, collaboration and investment promotion.

“In a rapidly evolving global economy characterised by intense competition and technological advancement, strong partnerships are no longer optional but essential,” he said. “Dangote’s presence reinforces the importance of sustained public–private collaboration in driving economic diversification and value-chain development.”
