The Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF), in collaboration with Esther’s Company Fellowship (ECF), has donated relief packages to 2,000 male inmates at Ikoyi Prison, Lagos.
The Executive Director of LAAF, Halima Layeni, said on Wednesday in Lagos that the donation marked the fourth edition of the Foundation’s Hope for Christmas Prison Outreach initiative.
Layeni explained that the initiative aims to restore dignity, provide essential relief, and offer emotional support to incarcerated men during the festive season. She emphasized the importance of compassion, empathy, and community engagement, stressing that no one should be forgotten during the holidays, regardless of their circumstances.
“The outreach primarily involved donating relief packages containing essential toiletries and personal care items to improve the daily living conditions of the inmates. In addition, we provided psychosocial and emotional support activities, including sensitization on healthy masculinity, free therapy, and mental health support,” she said.
Layeni added that the empowerment sessions held during the outreach sought to foster self-awareness, resilience, and positive behavioral change among the inmates, reinforcing messages of personal growth and hope beyond incarceration.
Also speaking, Munirat Layeni, Convener of Esther’s Company Fellowship, thanked all donors, partners, friends, and volunteers whose generosity made the outreach possible. She also commended the prison authorities for granting access and providing a warm reception during the visit.
She reiterated that LAAF and ECF remain committed to providing holistic humanitarian interventions that restore dignity, promote healing, and empower individuals to rebuild their lives.
