President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered a comprehensive security cordon around forests in Kwara, Kebbi, and parts of Niger State following recent kidnappings and increased terrorist activities in the affected areas.
The directive was disclosed on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, in a post on his verified X handle.
According to Dare, the President instructed the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to intensify and expand air surveillance across the deepest parts of forests in Kwara, where criminal groups are believed to be hiding.
“The President has ordered the Nigerian Air Force to intensify and expand air surveillance across the innermost parts of the forests where criminal groups are believed to be hiding,” Dare stated.
He added that NAF has been mandated to maintain 24-hour surveillance and synchronise its operations with ground troops to ensure effective coverage and rapid response. The directive, he noted, also extends to the Kebbi and Niger State axis, where additional rescue operations are expected.
Dare urged communities in the affected areas to provide timely information on suspicious movements or activities to support ongoing security efforts.
The Federal Government’s latest security actions come as counter-terrorism operations are being intensified across major hotspots nationwide.
