The Kwara State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to training and producing quality healthcare professionals.
El-Imam made the statement on Saturday in Shao, Moro Local Government Area, during the 17th Convocation and Certificate Award Ceremony at Bartholomew College of Health Technology.
It was reported that about 400 students graduated from various departments, including Community Health, Public Health, Pharmaceutical, Health Technician, and Health Assistant programs.
Describing the institution as a “crucial citadel of learning,” El-Imam commended the college management for maintaining high academic standards and urged them to sustain their commitment to excellence in training health workers. She also noted that the college continues to complement government efforts in addressing the shortage of skilled health manpower in the state.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Sa’adatu Kawu, represented by Mrs. Sheriffat Giwa, Director of Tertiary Education, praised the institution’s consistency in quality teaching and learning, identifying the college as a reliable partner in strengthening Kwara’s health sector.
Earlier, the Provost of the college, Dr. Bartholomew Owoicho, congratulated the graduating students for their perseverance, discipline, and hard work. He urged them to uphold professionalism, ethical standards, and dedication to community service as they begin their careers. Owoicho also expressed appreciation to the Kwara government for its continued support and contributions toward the growth of the institution.
The Ohoro of Shao, Oba Job Atolagbe, counseled the graduates to adhere strictly to professional ethics and commended the college for consistently grooming high-quality health workers.
