The Enugu State Government has reiterated its commitment to enhancing service delivery through digitalisation and increased productivity among civil servants.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, made the statement on Tuesday in Enugu during a four-day training program for administrative officers. The event was themed: “Optimising Service Delivery and Productivity in the Digital Age.”

Onyia emphasized that the state’s goal of transforming Enugu from a $4.4 billion to a $30 billion economy could be achieved through ethical productivity and the adoption of digital tools.

“You must work hard and embrace the new digital transformation and technology-driven administration before you earn promotion. The government will not tolerate laziness or absenteeism,” he said.

He also commended the Head of Service for organising the training, which aims to enhance civil servants’ capacity and proficiency in e-government tools.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Dr. Godwin Anigbo, said the program was designed to improve skills, efficiency, and professionalism among participants. He added that the training would accelerate policy implementation and strengthen governance in the state, noting that the civil service is central to systemic reforms.

Dr. Anigbo said: “The vision of His Excellency, Gov. Peter Mbah, is to build a smart, agile, resilient, and reform-driven public service for integrated and sustainable development. This vision is sincere and achievable.”

He urged participants, describing them as critical agents of change and policy enablers, to embrace digital transition, disruptive innovation, and a new culture of work.

“This training is structured around three critical pillars: e-governance and technology adoption, enhancing communication and presentation skills, and legal and ethical frameworks,” he said.
