The League for Good Governance has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to allow the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the allegations surrounding the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate issued by the Corps to the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The Convener of the League for Good Governance, Isaiah Ijele made the call during an interview on AriseTV over the weekend.
It would be recalled that the Ondo-born minister has been entangled with many allegations, including his alleged activities as Chairman House Committee on Nigeria Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the alleged recruitments into security and paramilitary organisations under his supervision as Minister of the Interior. The latest is the allegation that he forged his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
Reacting to the allegation on the NYSC certificate during the interview, Ijele said, “Alleged certificate forgery led to the resignation of the former Minister of Finance and, more recently, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
“Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s case should not be treated differently, regardless of his performance as minister. The integrity of this administration will be judged by how it handles Tunji-Ojo’s situation.
“If President Tinubu refuses to allow the DSS to investigate the minister over the NYSC allegations, it will undermine the rule of law in Nigeria.”
