The Swedish Embassy in Nigeria has formally endorsed the Enugu Tech Festival (ETF) 2026, which is expected to be one of the largest technology gatherings in Africa.
The endorsement was announced in Abuja during a high-level meeting between officials of the embassy and the Enugu State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, Dr. Lawrence Eze, alongside the ETF team.
Speaking on Thursday in Enugu, Dr. Eze described the endorsement as “crucial and forward-looking,” noting that discussions focused on strengthening cross-border partnerships, capacity building for young innovators, and positioning Enugu as a hub of Africa’s digital economy.
He said over 50,000 participants are expected at ETF 2026, with the Swedish Embassy fully represented. “The festival is a direct result of Governor Peter Mbah’s visionary leadership, bold reforms, and commitment to harnessing technology, innovation, and human capital development,” Eze said.
ETF Team Lead, Mr. Eliezer Ajah, stressed the importance of international partnerships, highlighting Enugu’s youthful and educated population as a driver for tech innovation. He said the collaboration with Sweden would open new opportunities, including potential alignment with Swedfund to harness low-hanging opportunities in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.
ETF 2026, themed “Coal to Code: Energy in New Form,” will be held from February 24–27, 2026, at the International Conference Centre, Enugu. It will feature exhibitions, keynote speeches, innovation showcases, and strategic partnership forums, attracting global innovators, policymakers, investors, and industry leaders.
